People ask me where I get my inspiration from, how I carry out such techniques, what materials I use, where I work, all of which are valid questions and I do my best to answer inshAllah.

Alhamdulillah my art has now reached a stage where whilst studying is hard to keep up with. Currently persuing a degree in Product Design, most can tell the work entails alot of coursework, well its all based on coursework weather it be practical or sitting at my computer modelling or at my desk drawing, creating innovative designs. Its what we as designers do, we think of things that others need, or in most cases take for granted.

I have always had a passion for design, anything that is more or less got something to do with design entrigues me so, and makes me look further into. Buildings, paintings, objects, interior and exterior decor, all entail design. Design is something this world evolves on. Being both an artist and a designer, inspiration can be found anywhere, its the way our minds work.

When I paint, its not like I sit down to plan out what I am going to paint and sketching ideas as I do for my university degree, to some extent yes, if I stumble across an idea of something that may look nice in a painting, ill sketch it. Weather im on the train, bus, at unversity, but thats not how an artist thinks, yes that is how a designer is required to think, but art is something derives from both the heart and the mind, Passion really.

Rather then sketching the idea, usually ill go straight to the canvas and do what needs doing. Its rather difficult to explain, its like I step into a zone where if the idea comes at the same time with precision and care, I will express my feeling and portraying an image to show what I have inside of me. And in everything I do it all comes down to Love, Love for Allah. Showing Islam as beauty with its harmonious text and scripture but also deep within each piece of art is a meaning. Islam can be analysed and looked at in soo many different ways but to really go into deriving the way the text is written and then showing its meaning from what is around on the canvas, is what I do as a Muslim artist. I can paint, colour anything I want, but the joy i recieve from creating pieces of beauty with such thought provoking and devine scriptures is an inner spiritual feeling I have being a Muslim.

The techniques I use to an extent are of my own making and combinations. Now id love to tell you all but thats telling, haha, so I cant do that, but as you may know im an Aerosol Artist, so with all artisits there is a flow with materials that are and can be used. Thats all I can say really.

Where do I work, well apart from studying at university, my art, I do at home. I have a studio where I have been given a great oppertunity to express and explore my passion. If it wasnt for my mum who pushed me to getting myslef into gear I wouldnt have got where I am so quickly. It helps as she has a passion for this as much as I do, so consulting with her is a great help.

For the last few months, I have been exploring around different areas in life on how to increase the way I approach life itself. What is my purpose in life? and what am I doing with my time? that makes us so busy brushing other important matters to the side. Its not often where I look for something to do, theres always something I have planned or that comes to me on the spot. Pacing myself, learning what I can where I can is something that has been a highlight for me, searching for what my heart desires so.

Nowadays it comes to me that spending time with the right type of people from which you can talk to and benefit learning from, whats to stop us from becoming friends with such individuals. They are everywhere, whether you notice it or not is down to you. My heart beats and my pace quickens faster by every step i move closer to gaining such knowledge, reading, listening, watching, its all a part of life really, you just have to choose how to use it in the right way.

I’ve started to reflect upon what iv done day by day, week by week, wondering if iv managed to please who needs pleasing. Have I used my time correctly? am i fullfilling my obligations? do i need to equal out my responsibilities?

InshAllah I can only pray that Allah not only guides me but guides us all.
