People ask me where I get my inspiration from, how I carry out such techniques, what materials I use, where I work, all of which are valid questions and I do my best to answer inshAllah.
Alhamdulillah my art has now reached a stage where whilst studying is hard to keep up with. Currently persuing a degree in Product Design, most can tell the work entails alot of coursework, well its all based on coursework weather it be practical or sitting at my computer modelling or at my desk drawing, creating innovative designs. Its what we as designers do, we think of things that others need, or in most cases take for granted.
I have always had a passion for design, anything that is more or less got something to do with design entrigues me so, and makes me look further into. Buildings, paintings, objects, interior and exterior decor, all entail design. Design is something this world evolves on. Being both an artist and a designer, inspiration can be found anywhere, its the way our minds work.
When I paint, its not like I sit down to plan out what I am going to paint and sketching ideas as I do for my university degree, to some extent yes, if I stumble across an idea of something that may look nice in a painting, ill sketch it. Weather im on the train, bus, at unversity, but thats not how an artist thinks, yes that is how a designer is required to think, but art is something derives from both the heart and the mind, Passion really.
Rather then sketching the idea, usually ill go straight to the canvas and do what needs doing. Its rather difficult to explain, its like I step into a zone where if the idea comes at the same time with precision and care, I will express my feeling and portraying an image to show what I have inside of me. And in everything I do it all comes down to Love, Love for Allah. Showing Islam as beauty with its harmonious text and scripture but also deep within each piece of art is a meaning. Islam can be analysed and looked at in soo many different ways but to really go into deriving the way the text is written and then showing its meaning from what is around on the canvas, is what I do as a Muslim artist. I can paint, colour anything I want, but the joy i recieve from creating pieces of beauty with such thought provoking and devine scriptures is an inner spiritual feeling I have being a Muslim.
The techniques I use to an extent are of my own making and combinations. Now id love to tell you all but thats telling, haha, so I cant do that, but as you may know im an Aerosol Artist, so with all artisits there is a flow with materials that are and can be used. Thats all I can say really.
Where do I work, well apart from studying at university, my art, I do at home. I have a studio where I have been given a great oppertunity to express and explore my passion. If it wasnt for my mum who pushed me to getting myslef into gear I wouldnt have got where I am so quickly. It helps as she has a passion for this as much as I do, so consulting with her is a great help.
